Memory refers to the organism’s mental ability to store, retain and recall information.
In elderly people, it was mentioned in NewScientist that eating less seems to improve memory.
Agnes Flöel and colleagues, at the University of Münster in Germany studied the short term memory behaviour at 50 people with an average age of 60, and found that restricting calorie intake has been shown to boost cognitive ability in elderly animals.
The former finding have shown that people in diet have a better neural function–which is–intimately linked to cognitive ability. It was shown that low glucose diet, with low insulin in our blood will boost our brain works.
Does this mean that elderly people are recommended to have low glucose diet? Or just a common diet? Further researches are still needed to complete the finding :)
