Things We Need To Know About Antibiotics
What do you know about antibiotics? Do you often use it?
If used properly, antibiotics can save lives. In other hand, they do not work against all infections, there are some condition where antibiotic cannot help us. Even, it has side effects that we need to know. For instance :soft stools or diarrhea and mild stomach upset. There are also other effects where you need to notify your doctor as soon as possible, like vomiting, severe watery diarrhea and abdominal cramps, allergic reaction (shortness of breath, hives, swelling of your lips, face, or tongue, fainting), vaginal itching or discharge, or white patches on your tongue.
If your doctor does prescribe an antibiotic for you, make sure you take all of the medicine, even if you feel better after a few days. This reduces the chance that there will be any bacteria left in your body that could potentially become resistant to antibiotics.
Actually, we use antibiotic for treating infections, including life-threatening infectious diseases. But antibiotics can cause more harm than good when they aren’t used the right way. You can protect yourself and your family by knowing when you should use antibiotics and when you should not. You can also prevent catching infections by practicing good hygiene.
Wash your hands with soap and water, especially after using the restroom, coming into contact with feces (for example, from a pet or from changing a baby’s diaper), after using the bathroom and before eating.
