Tissue Engineering from Yale School of Medicine reported a new finding about combination of bone marrow removal with injection of a hormone at targeted locations in the body.
Currently available treatment requires surgery and artificial materials. Besides, it often resultsan imperfect outcomes. In other hand, people need an ideal approach to create new bone where it is needed at a faster rate.
Senior author Agnès Vignery, associate professor of orthopedics said that, they have shown that it is the synergistic effect of mechanical marrow ablation and PTH that allows for this new bone to fill the marrow cavity.
They created a procedure that creates new bone tissue that appears structurally and biologically normal and that endows the targeted bone with improved biomechanical properties at a rate and extent that would not be achievable by anabolic therapy alone. Future researches are still needed to convince their finding.
