Stomatitis is an inflammation of the mucous lining of any of the structures in the mouth, which may involve the cheeks, gums, tongue, lips, throat, and roof or floor of the mouth. There is redness, swelling, occasional bleeding and bad breath. It can affect the infant as well as the elderly.
There are some types of stomatitis: Mycotic stomatitis, Gingivostomatitis, Stomatitis nicotina, Herpetic stomatitis, Chronic stomatitis, and Aphthous stomatitis. Based on the name, stomatitis have some specific causes, but generally, the most common kind of stomatitis is angular cheilities. Angular cheilities also called as angular stomatitis. Irritation and fissuring in the corners of the lips is connected to this stomatitis. In children a frequent cause is repeated lip-licking and in adults it may be a sign of underlying iron deficiency anemia, or vitamin B deficiencis (e.g. B2-riboflavin, B9-folate or B12-cobalamins), which in turn may be evidence of poor diets or malnutrition.
To avoid stomatitis, do some prevention action like ; - Visit the dentist regularly - Stop smoking to avoid tobacco, or drinking alcohol - Avoid consuming hot foods and drinks in one time - Choose the right mouthwashes and toothpastes
